The four pillars
of e-commerce finance

Profit lives in the detail a generalist accountant rarely sees

E-commerce finance isn't one job. It's four — data that's clean and current, margins you can trust, compliance handled ahead of time, and someone turning all of it into decisions. We run all four.

01

The infrastructure

E-Commerce Data & Bookkeeping

We reconcile revenue across every channel you sell on — Shopify, Amazon, TikTok Shop — using the specialist bridging tools the sector runs on.

Gateway fees, refunds and reserves are separated out and visible as their own lines. Your payout clearing accounts are fully reconciled: any balance is broken down and explained, so you always know what the number represents. Your ledger is reconciled on a defined, regular cadence — accurate and current enough to make decisions from.

02

The margins

Inventory & COGS Accounting

This is where most e-commerce books quietly go wrong. Too many bookkeepers expense stock related costs the moment the invoices land — so cost of goods never lines up with the sales it belongs to. We capitalise inventory properly and release COGS as items actually sell.

Landed cost is built up in full — unit cost, freight, duty, and supplier price changes as they happen. Inventory is valued so the stock figure on your balance sheet reflects what's actually there. The result is a margin you can trust enough to price against.

03

The exposure

Tax & Compliance

We treat tax as something to plan for. That covers e-commerce VAT, including the cross-border thresholds that catch growing brands out; corporation tax and year-end accounts prepared and filed; and tax-efficient ways for a director to take money out of the business.

Where your spending on systems and integration genuinely qualifies, we'll look at R&D relief. You get your tax position handled ahead of time, with the bills known in advance.

04

The decisions

Virtual CFO & Strategic Advisory

At the top tier, the numbers become a planning tool. You get monthly management accounts, reported clearly and explained.

A rolling cash flow forecast models your actual runway — how much room you have to fund ad spend or a bulk inventory order, and when. Regular strategic reviews keep the plan current as the brand grows. You can see your runway and plan spending against it.

Compliance

Bookkeeping

Weekly Xero reconciliation across Shopify, Amazon, TikTok. Stripe and PayPal fees parsed by A2X. VAT correctly categorised, every settlement.

Filings

Tax & VAT

VAT registration, returns, MOSS and OSS where applicable. Year-end accounts. Corporation tax. Self-assessment for directors.
